WHITBY, ONTARIO · AGES 7–13 · SUMMER 2025

Give your child something that stays.

Prakriti is a series of 1 yoga and nature camps running through the summer of 2025. Real practices. Real tools. Taught in a language children actually understand.

Child looking thoughtfully into the distance

Your child is busy.
But are they okay?

There is a particular kind of exhaustion that many children carry today — and rest alone doesn't fix it. They are overstimulated, under-rested, and rarely given space to just be still. Screens have replaced stillness. Busyness has replaced genuine play.

Every now and then, they need somewhere that slows things right down. Somewhere they can move, breathe, get their hands in the soil, and remember what it feels like to be genuinely present.

"Many children today are tired but unable to wind down, quick to frustration and slow to calm — carrying anxiety they don't yet have language for. Prakriti is designed for exactly this child."

Intimate by design.

We limit every Prakriti camp to 10–12 children. This isn't just a camp; it's a mentorship where every child is truly seen and guided through their own unique journey.

Nature Immersion

Beyond 'playing outside,' we teach children how to observe, listen, and harmonise with the natural world — using Whitby's conservation trails as a living classroom.

Real Yoga

We teach classical Hatha Yoga simplified for young bodies, focusing on posture, breath, and focus — not just fun games. Real practices that children carry with them long after camp ends.

Rooted Community

Friendships formed in silence and shared activity go deeper than those built on digital entertainment. The Prakriti community continues well beyond the final day of camp.

The Active Path

Surya Shakti

A dynamic, energising practice that builds real physical strength, stamina, and coordination in children. These are more active weeks. Children who attend Surya Shakti camps often surprise themselves with what their bodies are capable of by the end of the week.

The Grounding Path

Upa Yoga

Gentler and deeply grounding. Upa Yoga works with the joints, breath and nervous system in a way that even the most restless child finds surprisingly calming. Paired with Thoppukaranam, balancing practices and breathing work, these camps help children develop a relationship with stillness.

Beyond the camp gates: The Personal Toolkit.

We don't just entertain. We equip. Every child leaves Prakriti with a mental and physical toolkit they can access during exams, stressful social situations, or whenever they need to find their centre.

Breath as Anchor

Simple techniques to lower cortisol levels and reset the nervous system in seconds — anytime, anywhere.

The Quiet Mind

Mental exercises that improve attention span and the ability to focus on singular tasks, even in a noisy world.

Physical Integrity

A body that is flexible and strong creates a mind that is resilient and adaptable. Children feel the difference.

Conscious Nutrition

Understanding the direct link between what we eat and how we feel — a lesson that stays with them for life.

The Moment Every Parent Hears About

The Cooking Session

Every Prakriti camp ends with the children preparing a simple, nourishing meal together — from scratch, with their own hands. They learn about food, where it comes from, and what it actually does to the body and mind.

The look on their faces when they sit down to that meal is something we will never get tired of seeing. Many parents tell us their child came home and asked to cook dinner that evening. We take full responsibility.

Common Questions

My child has never done yoga before. Is that okay? expand_more
Completely. Most children who come to Prakriti have never stepped on a yoga mat in their life and that is perfectly fine. Everything is taught from the beginning, at a pace that works for each child. No experience, no flexibility, no prior anything required.
Can my child attend more than one camp? expand_more
Yes and we genuinely encourage it. Each camp has its own theme and its own unique activities so there is no repetition. Children who attend multiple camps build on what they've learned in a way that is quietly remarkable to witness.
What if my child is shy or finds group settings difficult? expand_more
This is actually one of the reasons many Durham Region parents choose Prakriti. Because the group is so small — never more than 10 to 12 children — shy children tend to open up much faster than they would anywhere else. There is no pressure to perform, no competition, and no child is ever singled out.
Will my child actually use what they learn at home? expand_more
This is the question we care most about. Every child leaves with a personal practice toolkit — simple, doable practices they can return to on their own. Many parents tell us their child independently uses their breathing practices during a difficult moment at home or school. That is exactly what we are here for.
What is the Prakriti community? expand_more
When your child completes a camp they become part of the Prakriti community — a warm, supported space where children and families stay connected with their teachers and peers, continue their practice, and never feel like they've been left to figure it out alone. Details shared upon enrollment.
What are the weekly guided sessions after camp? expand_more
After completing at least one Prakriti camp, children have the option to join ongoing weekly guided yoga sessions. These are gentle, consistent practice sessions designed to keep everything alive through the school year. Entirely optional — but many children find it becomes the part of their week they look forward to most.
What does the food look like at camp? expand_more
All food at Prakriti is Sattvic — simple, fresh and nourishing. We avoid anything heavily processed, overly spicy or sugary. If your child has any allergies or dietary requirements please let us know at enrollment and we will take full care of them.
What should my child bring? expand_more
Comfortable clothes they can move in, a water bottle, and an open mind. We take care of everything else.
Is there a sibling discount? expand_more
Yes. Families enrolling more than one child receive a discount. Simply mention it at the time of registration and we will sort it out for you.
Is there early bird pricing? expand_more
Yes — early bird pricing is available until April 30. Register before then to secure the reduced rate.
I have a question that isn't here. expand_more
Please just write to us. We would much rather you ask than wonder. Every message is read and replied to by a real person.

Reserve your child's spot.

Spots are limited to 10–12 children per camp. One camp or many — it doesn't matter where they start. It matters that they do.
